This Is My Country

Lidl, a German grocery store chain, has a number of stores here in Budapest, and this past week had “America Week,” featuring a number of supposed American staples. We went by to check it out — got to stock up on that peanut butter when you can — and spent several minutes giggling at the array. The “BBQ Marsh Mallows” mystified us for a few seconds until we realized they were just normal marshmallows for use *at* a barbecue, thus explaining their darker color at package bottom, not barbecue-flavored marshmallows. And for your apres-BBQ pleasure:

Because nothing says America like a big ol’ bottle of Jim Beam. And a package or ten of Oreos.
