When Saturday Isn’t Saturday

The two previous weeks we had national holidays on a Tuesday (October 23) and a Thursday (November 1), and to provide a nice, 4-day weekend, the Monday before and Friday after, respectively, were also given as a day off. However, payback came today — whenever an extra day is added to flesh out a holiday weekend like the Friday after Thanksgiving in the US, workers and students (and teachers) are obliged to make the day up on the next available Saturday, which was today. Ouch. The picture above is our local Posta (post office), which is normally closed all weekend. Not today — “nyitva” = “open.”
