While waiting in line to go into the Parliament building yesterday, we noticed this structure on the side. The hordes of you following this blog probably just experienced the same sense of, “that looks vaguely familiar,” that we did. It is another entrance to the underground bunker we mentioned last week. The overall structure, called the Rákosi bunker (named for the General Secretary of the ruling Communist Party after World War II, Mátyás Rákosi), stretches out under the center of Pest, where most of the important governmental buildings and several embassies are located.
